Current Projects

Projects in progress include:
  • Bar, Foyer and Stores refurbishment - This has been a major improvement to the hall providing a new modern Bar and Secure Bar Storage, upgrade to to front entrance Foyer to make it more welcoming, and changes to the Storage Areas for our regular users.  As well as involving specialists trades much of the work has been completed by volunteers and will be almost entirely funded from our reserves with small grants from our Rushcliffe and Nottinghamshire Councillors. The foyer doors have been stripped and re-stained and a new mat is in place. A radiator or some form of heating will be installed if it is felt to be neccessary. The Treasurer recently reported that he had seen an upsurge in bar receipts from events since the new Bar was provided.  The Hall is certainly more attractive to people holding large Celebrations and Receptions
  • Following suggestions from hall users we have  purchased 6 new circular tables. People prefer these as they enable better communication at events.
  • Also, of the 4 circular tables we already have, 1 is unusable and the others becoming well used.
  • Continual upgrade to Main Hall - Started as part of the Bar Project we have now removed the old dark staining to woodwork replacing it with a lighter medium oak finish.  The latest effort has been to clad and stain the stage frontage which now looks quite modern  "A great improvement" is a common comment from visitors.  On the 29th September a merry band  of Barbara, John, Peter, Shirley, Terry and Wendy completely repainted ALL the walls in one day..  Skirting is now painted and the notice boards renovated with a new honours board to show off all the major finnacial contributions to the Hall.
  • Upgrade to stage facilities - New stage lighting is now complete and the new curtains and poles have been fitted to the main hall windows and new curtains and tracking fitted to the stage, much improving the overall look of the hall.
  • The stage floor has been sanded and re-varnished. Our first bid for a grant was not successful but the committee is determined to continue with our own funds and possible other grant applications.
  • 'Monday Maintenance' - Each Monday morning we complete odd jobs including keeping paintwork up to a good standard, security improvements, gardening, repairs, gutter cleaning, etc. We have had a garden working party to tidy and clear the garden in preparation for Summer events.
  • Anyone can join in - just come along about 10:00 on a Monday and we will find something for you to do! Or ring Peter Fardell on 01949 850137 for more details.
